Indie folk is clearly high on the list of the most emotional music genres.

Especially when, as in the case of Australian export hit Kim Churchill, it sounds really melancholy and like the Australian sun - or rather like the moment when it bids farewell to the night over the vast ocean. Literally born with a guitar in his hand, the singer/songwriter began making music at the age of just four - and hasn't stopped since. After a long stint as a street musician, Kim Churchill's life-affirming folk music won him the Australian Street Music Award in 2009.

In 2009, Kim Churchill won the Australian street music competition Byron Bay Bluesfest with his life-affirming folk music and was named National Youth Folk Artist of the Year. His sound soon spread to Europe, Asia and America, and by the time he released his debut album "Silence/Win" in 2015, he had already amassed a considerable fan base. The record is the first of five that Kim Churchill has released to date, each two years apart. Right from the start, the Australian introduces a positive, wistful sound, on the basis of which he deals with his thoughts and emotions on a lyrical level. His latest album "Dawn Sounds" is a collection of tracks that the singer/songwriter says he wrote 100 mornings at sunrise - a time that brings him a lot of peace. Album number six also seems to be in the works, as the singer teased on his social media channels - perhaps with material for his tour in the fall? On the live stage, Kim Churchill will be performing solo as usual and accompanying himself, sometimes with guitar, sometimes with harmonica, tambourine or stand drums. This is exactly how he will be coming to Germany towards the end of this year - for six dates in October and November.
