KINDER. MACHEN. DINGE. is a free hands-on festival for children and families in Düsseldorf. The focus is on creativity, discovery, and doing things yourself.

July 4, 2026, 2:00–6:00 p.m. at the playground on Hohenzollernstraße, at the corner of Klosterstraße in Düsseldorf.

Along a varied course with over ten stations, children can design, build, print, experiment, and develop new ideas. The themes range from design, mobility, and the environment to artificial intelligence, printing, stickers, and other creative activities.

Instead of just watching, the children get actively involved: they gain experiences, solve challenges, create their own projects, and explore their environment through play. KINDER. MACHEN. DINGE. creates space for creativity, curiosity, and collaborative learning—accessible, free, and open to everyone.

The format was developed by Düsseldorf-based designers Lisa Florack and Prof. Katharina Drasdo. Both work at the intersection of design, cultural education, and social participation, and through the “Children’s Conference,” they develop new formats that enable children to play an active role in public spaces.

KINDER. MACHEN. DINGE. is organized in collaboration with the family center zitty.familie, which serves as the venue and a close project partner, providing the framework for the festival. The event is supported by Rheinbahn. The media partner is rausgegangen.

The event is primarily aimed at children between the ages of 6 and 14, as well as their families, and invites everyone to experience an afternoon full of ideas, encounters, and new perspectives.
