More about the play:
"The Sea of Wishes", based on the folk tale "Of the Fisherman and his Wife" and inspired by Emanuele Luzzati's animated film "Pulcinella e un mare di desideri", was born from the desire to tell this universal and absolutely topical fable using the means of puppet theater. Figures and images, made exclusively from recycled paper, appear before the audience's eyes and cast a spell over a simple story that is full of surprises. The narrative voice, like a song, accompanies the action on stage, which unfolds as if by magic through the play of an invisible puppeteer.
Tradition and innovation, imagination and sustainability are the ingredients of this theatrical experiment, but one thing is absolutely essential: a touch of magic! Using simple yet effective means of paper theater in the tradition of Neapolitan puppet theater, the folk tale is told in a magical way to even the youngest of audiences.
The paper and object theater "Pulcinella and the Sea of Wishes" is the first collaboration between the Kindertheater Fraunhofer and the Italian puppet theater company trasFORMAzioneANIMATA - GRUPPO DI RICERCA E SPERIMENTAZIONE DEL TEATRO DIFIGURA. The mobile production for young audiences aged 3 and up will be performed in daycare centers and other children's facilities from June 2024 and will also be included in the Fraunhofer Children's Theater's permanent repertoire.
An event in cooperation with the Gastspielring München, a project of the Verband freier Kinder- und Jugendtheater Bayern e.V. with the support of the Cultural Department of the City of Munich.
