New year - new European films!

We are kicking off Kino Europa 2026 with one of the five finalists for the LUX Audience Award: an impressive LGBTQI+ drama from France.

Late summer in Paris: Clémence, a former lawyer and aspiring writer, discovers her desire for women. When her ex-husband cuts her off from their son because of her lifestyle, an intense battle begins - for custody as well as for her sexual and intellectual self-determination. Love Me Tender tells the emotionally powerful story of a woman's struggle between her desire for freedom and society's expectations of her as a mother and wife. Celebrated at the Cannes Film Festival, the film is direct, courageous and consistently resistant to easy answers.

This will be followed by a film discussion with Paula Lochte . She is a freelance journalist and has been working as an author for radio programs and podcasts at Bayerischer Rundfunk since 2020. Her main topics are history, politics and pop culture, with a particular focus on women's biographies and feminist issues.

The LUX Audience Award is presented annually by the European Parliament and the European Film Academy in cooperation with the European Commission and Europa Cinemas. It honors outstanding European film productions and invites the audience to actively participate.
