Kino im Salon SPECIAL: Kurzfilmabend „Männer“

Once a month, the Kultur: Haus Dacheröden invites you to Kino im Salon - a film series that presents literary adaptations in a cozy atmosphere. This year, the Kino im Salon SPECIAL is once again dedicated to short films. In three films, we meet men and fathers in very different situations - sometimes touching, sometimes surprising, sometimes with a wink. Followed by a moderated film discussion.

• Crazy Blood (Can Tanyol) - 17:00 minutes
  A boy is on the threshold of a ritual that is supposed to turn him into a man - at least according to his family's expectations. Between childish fear, social pressure and contradictory expectations, he begins to question what masculinity actually means. A sensitive short film about identity, belonging and the courage to go your own way.

• Haus am Hang (Konstantin Münzel) - 23:00 minutes
  A facility for young offenders in the middle of the Black Forest. Physical work, uncompromising structure, circuit training and hierarchy. Disciplined inmate Jurek feels his status threatened by the arrival of newcomer Sascha and finds himself caught in a delicate tension between fascinating attraction, repressed aggression and rediscovered tenderness.

• All this death (Fadi Syriani) - 16:00 minutes
  A long-time resident of Beirut reads the obituaries and attends funerals every day. His "mourning" routine reveals a way of grieving and accepting the loss of a loved one, a home and a city.

• Papi and Papa (Jona von Büren) - 10:00 minutes
  Kai is a vet and a father. When he comes home after work, his two sons and his husband Andi are waiting for him - an almost normal family picture by now. Only one thing seems different. A story about belonging, social expectations and the question of what family means today unfolds between loving everyday life and quiet irritations from outside. A quiet short film about normality, which is not a given for everyone.

An evening about relationships, expectations and the small moments in which everything is decided. Following the screenings, the filmmakers Can Tanyol, Konstantin Münzel and Fadi Syriani will be guests and talk about their work - an opportunity to find out more about the background and ideas behind the films. The discussion will be held in German and English (moderator: Susanne Aßmann).

Short films often tell compact stories and rely on creative narratives, visual experiments or artistic forms of expression. They offer filmmakers the opportunity to experiment with new ideas, take up unusual themes or convey strong emotional impressions in a short space of time. In terms of content, short films are very diverse: from drama and comedy to animation and documentary, everything is possible - and they invite reflection, discussion and amazement. An evening for anyone who is curious about short film formats and exciting discussions.
