The Club of Rome’s report *The Limits to Growth* is over 50 years old. More than 30 years ago, liberation theologian Leonardo Boff argued that social transformation was an absolute necessity in light of the ecological crisis and criticized the drive for power, conquest, and profit! Ten years ago, Pope Francis criticized the mindset that views climate change as an exclusively technical issue. This year we are celebrating the fourth Cologne Climate Festival: Where do we stand today? “What kind of world do we want to leave to those who come after us, to the children who are growing up right now?” (Pope Francis) And: What contribution can Christianity make in the face of the current ecological crisis(es)?
