Kolonialismus & Widerstand: Pre-Launch neuer digitaler Guide
In the organizer's words:
With our digital guide, *Colonialism & Resistance: Paths of Remembrance*, weinviteyou to experience the Museum Fünf Kontinente in a new way. It offers diverse perspectives on colonial history and forms of anti-colonial resistance. The guide explains how individual works featured in the permanent exhibitions came to be in Munich and highlights the contexts of injustice in which the museum is entangled.
Curated tours, which you can access via your smartphone, guide you through the museum’s galleries. Integrated interludes and check-ins allow you to pause and reflect along the way. In the “Pick & Choose” section, you can independently explore interviews, art interventions, and a total of 15 works.
We’ll introduce the new digital guide at the pre-launch on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 2 p.m. Dr. Noam Gramlich and PD Dr. Richard Hölzl will explain the digital features and design principles. Experts Prof. Dr. Natasha A. Kelly and Hamado Dipama, along with artist Hope Bartley, will discuss the topic of colonialism and resistance at the museum. Afterward, we’ll explore the museum together using the digital guide. You’ll have the opportunity to share your impressions with the curatorial team before the guide is released.
The“Colonialism & Resistance”digital guide brings together voices from communities of origin, the diaspora, the arts, and research on an equal footing. Insights from the museum’s archives are juxtaposed with multimedia artistic interventions and perspectives from Africa, Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania.
