In the organizer's words:
Königssommer 26 | 20th WET PAINTING. Königswinter Becomes an Open-Air Gallery Saturday, July 11 & Sunday, July 12, 2026
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the 20th WET PAINTING will take place. This popular art event, part of Königssommer 2026, invites artists to rediscover the city with brushes and canvases. Visitors are warmly invited to look over the artists’ shoulders as they work and experience art in the making.
Whether it’s the Rhine promenade, the idyllic parks, the Siebengebirge mountains, or iconic landmarks like Drachenburg Castle and the Drachenfels—Königswinter offers a wealth of striking subjects. Participants create their works right on site, drawing inspiration from the town’s unique atmosphere.
The resulting works will be exhibited on Sunday, July 12, 2026, starting at 10 a.m. in the hall of Haus Bachem. The highlight of the weekend is the public auction of the paintings at 3 p.m. The minimum bid per work is 100 euros. All proceeds from the auction will go to the participating artists. In addition, a charitable project will be supported on a voluntary basis.
WET PAINTING is also part of a diverse cultural weekend in Königswinter. On Saturday, the Siebengebirge Museum invites visitors to its summer festival, offering a varied program for the whole family.
On Sunday, Königswinter’s Old Town will also serve as the stage for the “Hit the Road” street music festival, where musicians will create a special atmosphere at various locations. Thus, on both days, visitors can look forward to a diverse array of art, music, and culture, as well as numerous opportunities to experience the Old Town and its cultural diversity.
