King's Summer 26 | Art on Site in the Garden of the Siebengebirge Museum

August 16, 2026, 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.

A hands-on initiative by the Königswinter Artists’ Community, where children and adults can discover their artistic talent and get creative.

The garden of the Siebengebirge Museum will become an open studio.

Under the guidance of the artists, you’ll create your own small works of art, which you can take home for free.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Fold-Out Booklets with Barbara Baltes
  • Design your own fold-out booklet and experiment with a colorful variety of painting and drawing materials on paper. In this workshop, you’ll transform simple folds into a completely personal, artistic creation.
  • Fabric Art with Needle and Thread with Maren Kapahnke
  • We’ll create what are known as “jojos”—small, flower-like works of art made of fabric, individually decorated with buttons and beads.
  • There are no limits to your imagination when it comes to reusing the jojos—for example, as keychains, brooches, hair clips, patches, or even an entire wall hanging. Each piece becomes one-of-a-kind and demonstrates how something new and special can be created from what might seem like scraps. This workshop combines creativity, handicrafts, and upcycling.
  • Surface Meets Line with Bianca Malguth and Sylvana Poll
  • We’ll create random patches of color using watercolor or acrylic paints, employ the potato-stamping technique, and draw with various pens. By combining intention and chance on paper, we’ll produce exciting new images with multiple layers of meaning.
  • Creating Random Images with Water, Ink, and Salt Crystals with Annette Saul
  • First, a water surface is created on watercolor paper—either covering the entire surface or in a limited area. Then, using a pipette, drops of ink and/or peat lye can be added. Salt crystals trickling into the wet surface create different textures within the softly blended paint.
  • Encaustic (wax painting) with Anna Willkomm and Gisela Thielmann
  • We paint on paper using a hot painting iron and special wax paints, which encourages experimentation and creativity.

The workshops are suitable for children ages 10–12 and, of course, equally for teens and adults. For some activities, children will need assistance from their parents or grandparents, as they involve working with a hot painting iron, a needle, or a knife. Participation in the workshops is free of charge. Registration is not required.
