Konzert "Homecoming" Junge Bläserphilharmonie Sachsen

In the organizer's words:

Leipzig, June 2026 – Following a successful and intensive concert and project tour in the U.S., the Saxony Youth Wind Philharmonic will return home in the summer of 2026 with its new program, “Homecoming.” The Free State of Saxony’s select orchestra invites its audience to two special concerts, showcasing the transcendent power of music through classics and new discoveries in symphonic wind music. The Young Wind Philharmonic of Saxony is an elite orchestra supported by the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture, and Tourism, in which approximately 50 young musicians aged 14 to 27 receive intensive musical training. Since its founding in 1998, the Young Wind Philharmonic of Saxony has made a name for itself far beyond the state’s borders. Concert tours have taken the ensemble to China, South Korea, and most recently to the United States, among other destinations. At the same time, the orchestra is a regular guest at renowned concert venues such as the Kulturpalast in Dresden, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, and the Stadthalle in Chemnitz. Under the baton of Chief Conductor Thomas Scheibe, the young talents will gather from August 9 to 16, 2026, for a summer workshop at the German Wind Academy in Bad Lausick. The “Homecoming” program is conceived as a musical return to Saxony and, at the same time, builds on the international experiences of recent years.

The concert program includes, among other works:

• Alfred Reed: El Camino Real

• Antonio de Cabézon / arr. Percy Aldridge Grainger: Prelude in the Dorian Mode

• Jules Strens: Danse Funambulesque

• Stephen Melillo: Escape from Plato’s Cave
