Dancing in a square: between jazz and artpop, doubt and introspection.
"I know who I am / I don't need to discuss that", sings Nora Lyn Handschuh in the single "Thoughtchange, Not Change" by the band Lyn&TheFingers. The young Leipzig-based group transforms this uncompromising, yet searching and chaotic attitude into their music. In 2025, they released their first EP, toured throughout Germany, played at the Jiangsu International Jazz Festival in China and won the Leipzig Young Jazz Talent Award from the Marion Ermer Foundation. The jury's statement said: "Lyn & The Fingers impress with their personality, openness and freshness. The band around singer and composer Nora Lyn Handschuh is an outstanding example of the creative potential of the young Leipzig scene. Their interpretations of well-known songs combine the immediacy of pop with the improvisational quality of jazz. Particularly noteworthy are Nora Lyn Handschuh's own compositions and arrangements, which are worked out together in a collective process. In them, the band stages musical stories in a diverse, genre-open way - with intelligent lyrics that negotiate the existence of a young generation and surprising stylistic twists that organically provide space for solo playing and interaction. At the center is the infectious energy and authenticity of singer Nora Lyn Handschuh. Her creative and risk-taking vocals show great artistic potential. "
A concert by Lyn&TheFingers is a journey in which you can listen to stories, wander through a wide range of emotions and also indulge in the occasional groovy rhythm for dancing.
