With a powerful voice, as strong as a ship's horn, and a captivating stage presence, Nani Vazana writes new songs in the endangered Ladino language. In her lyrics, she processes her migration history and combines the sounds of a lively marketplace with the passion of flamenco.

Nani learned Ladino secretly from her Moroccan grandmother because her father had forbidden it at home. Her music was documented in the US Library of Congress in 2023 and reached #11 on the International World Music Charts and #13 on the World Music Charts Europe in 2022.

Nani is the first artist in the world to write her own songs in Ladino. Her new album "Ke Haber " (in German: Was gibt's Neues?) brings the ancient, matriarchal language into the present with current topics - migration, gender roles and female strength. The music is reminiscent of the sounds and smells of a marketplace and mixes passionate flamenco singing with trombone, mariachi guitar, percussion and piano.
