In the organizer's words:

Plattenbau is an international Berlin quartet that fuses elements of post-punk,
noise rock and wave into a dark, intense concoction.
Their sound combines mechanical-sounding drums, goth-inspired basslines, mystical guitars and paranoid, wailing synths to create a mixture reminiscent of the soundtrack to a 90s horror movie. The whole thing is held together by intimate, deep and gloomy vocals. The result is a sound world that is both chaotic and carefully composed - in keeping with their motto: "Tight, loose and evil".
The band was founded in 2011, inspired by the brutalist architecture of the post-Soviet landscape of East Berlin.

Plattenbau takes you to the basement of your soul, drains the swamp of the collective
unconscious and presses it into symmetrical shapes, easily digestible for the modern consumer.

They are NOT, as some have claimed, a cult or a corporation, nor are they nihilists. They are 4 international individuals who met in Berlin, Germany and bonded over punk records, arthouse cinema and the occult.

Perhaps best summed up in their company slogan "Tight, loose and evil" their sound ranges from noise rock to new wave with arrangements akin to krautrock and even techno - owing their influences as much to the clubs as to guitar music. Despite this, all their songs have a distinctly pop element of catchy hook lines and tight arrangements.
"I guess it's a rock band" drawls Lloyd, when asked the nth time to describe genre. "It sounds a bit like the soundtrack to a German VHS horror movie from the early 90s, including commercial breaks."
The Korg M1, a mainstay of 90s series and commercial soundtracks, makes up a heavy portion of the sound with glistening chorus strings and paranoid voice pads, while Brandon Walsh's robotic drums and Sally Brown's intricate jangly basslines form the foundations for Lewis Lloyd's dark baritone vocals and Jesper Munk's mystical noise guitars.

Last October they released their 4th album CURSED - their heaviest work yet.
The record finds the band descending into darker waters, where elements of doom, hardcore, and dungeon synth intertwine, cut with the blade of their signature sound.
The record explores the prevailing crises of our times: a creeping return to feudalism, where rival warlords devastate populations and ecosystems for personal gain, leaving powerless serfs to pick through the wreckage. It confronts the contradictions of relative privilege, the inertia of being stuck in our own loops, and the gnawing dread of watching the world burn from behind a glowing screen.
