Leipzig - a city that is constantly reinventing itself. But who tells its stories?

The Leipzig of the GDR that lives on in memories? That of the students between rent madness and club culture? Or that of loneliness in prefabricated buildings and new-build districts? Perhaps it is the Leipzig that only emerges when all these voices come together - loudly, quietly, sometimes in harmony.

Our multi-generational club asks: What happens when these Leipzigs collide on stage? When songs of the past meet the sounds of the present? When "home" suddenly tastes like curiosity? When a city is not only experienced, but recomposed - by those who live it?
We mix theater, music and movement to create an experiment: Leipzig as a collage. As a question. As something that only emerges in a shared space.

Kool and the Gens

We are Kool and the Gens, the opera's multi-generational club - a place where people of all ages create musical theater.

No traditional stage, no ready-made roles, no age limits. This is where experiences, ideas and perspectives come together that would otherwise rarely meet. Using theater, song and movement, we explore what happens when worlds collide or complement each other. Our goal: music theater that connects - through listening. Every voice shapes the space.
