Founded in 2025, the five-member Krisel Kollektiv explores, through interdisciplinary collaboration, the experience of and coping with crises—both on an individual and societal level. The artistic exploration takes place across various media: painting, installation, performance, film, photography, and digital media. Diverse skills and interdisciplinary professional experiences are brought to bear, and different perspectives are interwoven, making the collaboration within the collective both productive and distinctive.

The exhibition “Wrackmente” features collaborative works from collective workshop days (including “Mahlzeit,” 2025) as well as works that respond to the perspectives of other members. The word “Wrack” in the neologism “Wrackmente” refers, in Middle Low German—and thus in the Lower Saxon dialect—to a “drifting object.”

Building on this concept, the exhibition features, for example, works that focus on everyday found objects, such as “Wasch Dir mal die Hände” by Stefanie Heinrich. The term is also expanded to include “drifting living beings”: photographic works such as “poner la Mesa” by Vaira Janz make visible people who come together to communicate but then drift apart again.

The word “Wrackmente” contains the word “fragments”: for example, Marten Blatt incorporates fragments of pop-cultural references into his paintings as symbols of confusion and overwhelm—a reflection of our society today.

The result is an exhibition that places the individual and society—at times with a self-deprecating eye—at the center.
