KulturMut Convention 2024 - Kultur.Kampf.Mut.: Wehrhafte Kultur für die Demokratie von morgen - Auftaktveranstaltung

Are you a cultural worker and want to stand up for a defensive culture and democracy?

Then don't miss the kick-off of the KulturMut Convention 2024 of the Kölner Kulturgetrieb on April 24! 🧡 We want to get into conversation with you! What challenges has culture already had to face in the past and what new developments can currently be observed in the face of right-wing populist pressure? How can culture act in solidarity with those affected and form networks itself when it comes under attack?

KulturMut takes place under the title "Kultur.Kampf.Mut.: Wehrhafte Kultur für die Demokratie von morgen". It focuses on resilience and sustainability in cultural work. In times of challenges such as right-wing populism, it is crucial that we fight together for cultural diversity and freedom.

This year, the KulturMut Convention 2024 will take place in three stages on different dates: First an evening kick-off event, then a multi-day KulturMut camp and a concluding one-day symposium.

The kick-off event on April 24, 2024 serves as an information event for interested institutions and potential participants in the KulturMut Camp. It will also provide an opportunity to find out about current developments in the field of cultural conflict and to hold initial discussions.

The highlight of the evening will be a panel discussion with Anna Marienfeld and Björn Gabriel from Studio Trafique and Dr. Dirk Lukaßen from the NS Documentation Center.

The event is aimed at cultural workers, cultural managers, activists, cultural politicians and anyone who works at the intersection of culture and society. We would particularly like to encourage young cultural workers to take part in this important event and act as multipliers.

Here is a brief overview of all the dates of the KulturMut Convention 2024

April 24: Kick-off event - 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

at the Seekabelhaus in Cologne-Nippes

June 21 and 22: KulturMut Camp

at the Vogelsang IP memorial site in the Eifel region

October 11: Final conference

at the Seekabelhaus in Cologne-Nippes

It'sbest to enter the dates directly in your calendar! 😉

After the kick-off, the KulturMut camp will focus on learning tools and strategies, exchanging ideas and developing solutions together. The results will then be presented and discussed at the final conference.

All 3 dates can be attended individually. You are therefore welcome to take part in all 3 events or just come to one of them if it suits you better!

We strive to make the KulturMut Convention 2024 as barrier-free and accessible as possible. Our rooms are barrier-free, an awareness person will be on site & we will also try to cover other needs. Please just send us an e-mail to kulturmut@daskulturgetriebe.de. For example, you can let us know if you need childcare or if potential sign language interpreters are needed. It is not yet entirely clear whether we will receive funding for this, but we are making every effort! We want to create a space where everyone feels welcome and comfortable!

Feel free to contact us in advance or during the event if you need anything. For example, we can provide you with a baby changing room if required. All members of our team will be recognizable by their name badge. Just come up to us!
