Kunst im Kontext: Identität, Nationalität, Klischee

During our Art in Context series, two experts from different fields will accompany you on your tour of the exhibition and discuss topics such as identity, nationality and klichee.

What was and is Spanish identity? Can a country characterized by various separatist movements and secessionist tendencies develop a uniform definition of the "Spanish soul"? When does the land of longing become a cliché? These and other questions - such as the instrumentalization of Zuloaga by Franco - will be explored on this evening.

With the guided tour series Art in Context, the Bucerius Kunst Forum illuminates themes of the exhibition from two different perspectives and brings them into resonance with each other. Art always takes place in context, both for the artists and for the viewers - depending on which context you come from, it takes on different meanings, focuses and interpretations. During the tandem tour, two experts from different fields will accompany you on your tour of the exhibition and explain their perspectives on the exhibited works and artists. Afterwards, you are cordially invited to share your perspectives and exchange ideas over a drink.
