What does artistic freedom mean - and what happens when it is restricted? On the occasion of the day of honor - the nationwide day of participation on the birthday of the Basic Law - we invite you to a workshop in the museum. Together we will explore how art is created in political systems that limit freedom: under National Socialism and in the GDR.
Based on selected works in the museum, we will approach questions such as: Which art was desired - and which was suppressed? How did artists react to political guidelines? And what role do tolerance and freedom play for art - then and now?
After an introduction, you will use our iPads to discover works independently, talk to each other and develop your own perspectives. The workshop is aimed at anyone interested - no previous knowledge is required.
COSTS
The workshop is free of charge.
