KUNST-SONNTAG im Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte – KUNST-GESCHICHTE entdecken: Führung durch die Ausstellung Wolfgang Ganter: „WORKS IN PROGRESS“

PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

The Central Institute for Art History in Munich opens its doors on four Sundays and takes visitors on a tour of discovery through the building. On April 28, 2024, Christine Tauber will guide you through the exhibition "WORSK IN PROGRESS" and present works by the artist Wolfgang Ganter.
The "WORKS IN PROGRESS" exhibited at the ZI are based on photographs of works of art that the artist Wolfgang Ganter (*1978) made in the Alte Pinakothek and then infected with bacterial cultures. The bacteria feed on the gelatine layers of the photographic film; they "tease out" all the colors still hidden in it and rearrange them. Usually, attempts are made to remove works of art from the cycle of life by restoring them to their original state. In doing so, they lose a large part of their atmospheric effect and authenticity. Wolfgang Ganter sees the "WORKS IN PROGRESS" as his very personal processing of art history - the tour aims to bring you closer to this process of artistic exploration.

Participation is free of charge. Maximum number of participants: 25
