When it's supposed to be festive due to the calendar and we're still rushing off to get presents, organize families, write questionable cards to loved ones far away, quickly knit something and find ecologically sound tinsel, it's time to pause for an hour and spend time with children, friends and art. Time to get into the tik. Here's to a glass of punch, mulled wine or beer and a bit of togetherness.

Candle number 2: René Marik reads

The second candle on the circular fir greenery at tik is called: René Marik - comedian, puppeteer, musician, author, tik buddy and fellow human being - comes around and reads. Not the classic Christmas story. No, no! René Marik will be reading from his second book. It's called "Stadt explodiert im Kopf" and it's not even finished yet. Yes, that's right. On December 7, you have the chance to listen in live and in color, directly and face-to-face to the creation process of his autofictional coming-of-age novel, which is set in the wild post-reunification era. That's right, with our production "Theater Techno Tempel" that's exactly our theme. And yes, we think it's rad too.

"Stadt explodiert im Kopf" tells the story of Franz Müller, who moves from an orderly small West German town to an unfinished, chaotic and disjointed East Berlin in the early 1990s. The nerdy math student becomes politically radicalized, plays street theater, squats a house and finds his first great, but unhappy, love. All of this happens within a few weeks in the summer of 1993. A hero's journey and a historical snapshot at the same time.
