In the spring of 2026, the jury—comprising Anne Berlit, Dr. Thomas Kremer, Teresa Linhard, Claudia Mann, Dr. Emmanuel Mir, and Kai Eric Schwichtenberg—met to decide on the recipient of what will be, for the time being, the last art prize awarded by Baustelle Schaustelle.

The exhibition “Within a Margin” by this year’s recipients of the Baustelle Schaustelle Art Prize takes the architectural characteristics of the venue as a starting point to develop works that reflect and counteract the aesthetic and thematic structure of the space.

With particular attention to the shifting perspective of the exhibition space—which can be understood both as a walk-through area and as a display case—the visitors’ experience plays an explicit role in the selection and arrangement of the objects and images on display.

In the artistic practice of Frederic Bahr and Mirjam Falkensteiner, the materiality of their works and the associations they evoke play a special role. Through sculptural means that explore expansion and volume, physical connections are established and the dimension of spatiality is defined. Paintings that, in their depiction, connect the interior with the exterior—while using sections of the wall as a canvas—raise questions about what a space is and can be.
