In the organizer's words:
Do you enjoy storytelling? And would you like to design and print your own comic?
Then the workshop with comic artist and illustrator Emma Filippa Harkämper is just right for you. Here you will combine texts with pictures and develop your very own work over five workshop days. Whether it's a comic, manga, photo story, graphic novel or picture book. Everything is welcome!
You will get to know various methods for getting creative in analog or digital form. Choose your own favorite method for creating your own comic, whether analog, drawing on paper with pencil, pastels, pen and ink or digital on your iPad, cell phone or laptop. You will also learn the basics of storytelling, how to tell a story with pictures, put it on paper and create lively characters.
At the end, you can hold a printed comic in your hands, pin a large series of posters to the wall or present your drawings digitally on the screen.
We take inspiration from Wilhelm Busch, a true comic pioneer, and from the exhibition "Ach was. 103 years of Loriot".
Whether your style is funny, quirky, creative, poetic or critical - you decide what you want to say
KunstSommer is an open offer for young people who want to give their creative ideas more space and time and who enjoy designing, experimenting, researching, reflecting and presenting. The various exhibitions at the participating art institutions provide inspiration and exciting input.
You will receive professional support and feedback on the implementation of your ideas from university lecturers, artists and other experts from the field. They will also give you insights into their day-to-day work and answers to your questions about starting a career and choosing a course of study.
The 5-day workshops take place daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (sometimes until 4 p.m.). As the number of participants is limited, you should only take part if you can attend all 5 days if possible. This is also because the contents of the individual workshop days build on each other.
The workshops are redesigned every year to take into account current topics and site-specific conditions at the respective presentation locations.
