Democracy is a challenge—every day. The exhibition by the Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt Foundation addresses this challenge from both historical and contemporary perspectives. 

It takes a biographical look at Helmut Schmidt as a key figure in contemporary history and connects the issues and debates of the Federal Republic from the late 1960s through the 1980s with current debates. Then as now, people ask themselves: What protects democracy? What threatens democracy? How social is democracy? And how sustainable is democracy, anyway? 

And you, too, are invited to participate: What are your views on current controversial issues? What political priorities would you set? Take on the challenges right here on site, or grab a “democratic challenge” to take with you on the go!
