Pusdorf Studios becomes a live movie theater

For the second time, the Pusdorf Studios cafeteria will be transformed into a temporary cinema on 21.12.23, the shortest day of the year. A cozy film evening will be held as part of the Short Film Day.

The focus will be on the new episode "Raver-Rausch im Techno-Tempel (1995)" of the cult series Szenereport. The mockumentary by ARD Kultur and Sendefähig director Hannes Rademacher explores subcultures of the past 30 years and has been nominated for a Grimme Award in 2023.

A special treat of the short film evening in Pusdorf is the live soundtrack of selected silent films. In 1962, the Bundesstaatliche Hauptstelle für Wissenschaftliche Kinematographie was founded in Vienna. Until 1997, a cornucopia of ethnological test-tube observations of the Austrian rural population accumulated there, as well as a colorful bouquet of examples from comparative behavioral research, alongside well-intentioned and helpless attempts to capture scientific findings on celluloid.

Many of the film documents have only survived in silence. On the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the Main Office, Jan van Hasselt and Lars Trimborn will fill this gap in Austrian cultural history with a little filler and set several films to live music.

The event will be hosted by Carolin von der Groeben, who is known for her work as a reporter for the Y-Kollektiv and as an actress and presenter. DJ* Svea Katalok will provide the background music for the evening.
