What does the world cost? Life is a game for the four men who paint, write, philosophize and make music. They are young, they have time. Plenty of time to party, plenty of time for love, because the big feelings are part of life and art. But then it all comes crashing down: real life. Rodolfo loved her, then spring came, they broke up and now Mimì is ill, terminally ill.

Suddenly the cold becomes cold, the poverty bitter and the reality existential. With "La Bohème", Alize Zandwijk, resident director at Theater Bremen, devotes herself to a grand opera for the first time and embarks on a search for humanity and responsibility in times in which social upheaval is increasing and the reality of all of us threatens to become more existential.
