La Fleur: Konami – Der Fußballtanz

Konami, actually the name of a Japanese video game manufacturer, is a street dance that enjoys great popularity in the Ivory Coast and stands for the unique combination of soccer and Coupé Décalé. For their piece "Konami - the soccer dance", the transnational ensemble of La Fleur has not only explored this special dance, but also the entanglements of power, money and corruption from which professional soccer can no longer be separated. La Fleur tell the story of cultural transfer and migration between Africa and Europe and bring it to the stage from different perspectives.

The starting point is the observation that young, up-and-coming stars from soccer and showbiz help each other to become more visible by showing each other at performances or by a singer praising the qualities of a footballer in a song or a vocal animation. The ensemble gathered impressions at this year's Africa Cup in Côte d'Ivoire and spoke to young Africans in Abidjan, Palermo, Frankfurt and Lyon who want to pursue a professional soccer career.

Under the direction of Monika Gintersdorfer ,performers Annick Choco, Montserrat Gardó Castillo, Carlos Martínez, Ordinateur and Alaingo as well as musician Timor Litzenberger report on how the dream of success and fame fueled by pop culture encourages young players to make the journey to Europe .Together, the group has created dances, songs and videos that convey an impression of the reality of life for young African professional footballers between the continents.
