With LA STRADA in winter, the festival is expanding its artistic profile with a new winter format. The aim is to make it possible to experience the programmatic diversity and special signature of LA STRADA in the cold season too - in a setting that enables proximity, concentration and direct encounters.

"The Life of Diogenes - Everything for the garbage can"

In this physically comical solo, we encounter the ancient philosopher Diogenes in a modern form: radical, funny and with a clear view of our throwaway society.
Between philosophical thoughts, improvisation and audience-oriented scenes, Trabner poses central questions of our time:

What do we really need? What makes us happy? And what ends up in the garbage can unnecessarily?

A play full of energy, humor and timeless relevance. A sustainable theatrical spectacle.

What does an ancient philosopher have to do with today's consumer mania? Quite a lot!

With his unique stage character Diogenes of Sinope, Peter Trabner brings one of the most radical thinkers of antiquity to the stage - and directly into our present day.
Diogenes, born around 412 BC in Sinope, was a Cynic who held up a mirror to the social norms of his time. He lived in Athens, owned nothing, slept in a barrel and used his life to ask himself the central question: What do I really need to be happy?

In Trabner's one-man show, historical tradition, philosophical depth and modern social criticism merge into an intense theatrical experience. He draws on text passages from Christoph Martin Wieland's "Dialogues of Diogenes" (1770) and combines them with improvisation, direct audience interaction and a wild alternation between profound reflection and humorous satire.

LA STRADA and Trabner's fans can also look forward to three performances of The Circle of Nature.

There is a nominal fee of €5 per ticket for booking. This fee is exclusively for reliable seat reservations and gives you and us planning security: you have a guaranteed seat and we can organize the room capacity responsibly.

As usual, the actual payment is only made after the performance - directly into the artist's hat. Just like you know it from LA STRADA!
