The Latin American Film Festival Munich (LAFITA) has been presenting the ingenuity of Latin American cinema since 1986: this year from November 29 to December 3. In our country focus , we look at the historical and current dynamics of Colombia, but also remember the momentous military coup in Chile 50 years ago. The "Young Perspectives | Perspectivas Jóvenes" section takes us to Uruguay and Argentina, where young people are redefining their place in society. In addition to numerous guests, this year's program also offers many supporting films that aim to enter into a dialogue with the feature-length films and the audience. Some of the productions, which have won numerous awards at international festivals such as Cannes, will be shown in Munich for the first time, with some of them celebrating their German premiere at LAFITA.

The hand-picked program offers exclusive insights into a culturally and ecologically diverse region of the world. A young generation of directors traces historical contexts, struggles with the same problems as their parents' generation, but seeks different, creative solutions. The program pays tribute to the ghosts of the past, silenced voices, faded utopias and mourning; also to the urge for freedom, creativity, fluid identities, diversity, hope - and subversion!
