- Two film screenings on the topic of a world without money

With their two films "what if..." and "2114: A world without money", the two filmmakers want to stimulate discussions about a better world in which we rethink the central importance or even the existence of money itself, through fiction.

What if.... - OF (German)
In an unspecified year in the future, a grandmother shows her granddaughter in a museum how people lived around 2023.
Using objects such as banknotes, wedding dress/rings, school reports, bicycle locks/keys, cars, party books/ballot papers, national flags, globes, police equipment and tanks, the woman tries to explain to the inquisitive 7-year-old how and why everything was the way the audience knows it today.

In comparison with her current reality, the 7-year-old concludes after the museum visit that people must have all been sick back then.

The film aims to show in an entertaining way that a better world is possible!

2114 - A world without money - OmeU (German with English subtitles)
In this film, filmmaker Bilbo Calvez traces the path that led to "Saruj - Imagine a world without money". She begins with an excerpt of her speech as a time traveler in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin; a talk that reached over 250,000 views.
There, she described what her life could look like in a future without money.

She describes:
"To make this vision more tangible and to give it an artistic framework, I created "The Bear Soup", an interactive art exhibition that was shown over sixty times. The reactions and resistance of the visitors deepened my reflections.

After a few years, I knew that this idea was not an unrealistic utopia. I was convinced that such a world was possible. At that moment, I started writing the novel: "Saruj - Imagine there is no more money".

Here are the first words of the preface:
Deep down, even before the transition, people longed for peace and a world without money.
But their dream was dismissed as an unrealistic utopia.

Freeing themselves from this belief was the greatest challenge of the transition.

The film screenings will be followed by a discussion.
