LAURA LEE & THE JETTES

Laura Gertken, better known as Laura Lee, is a Berlin-based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and performer. She became internationally known as one half of the acclaimed indie duo Gurr, with whom she toured with Arcade Fire, The Strokes and Kraftklub, among others, and won the IMPALA European Album of the Year Award in 2018.

In 2020, she founded her new project Laura Lee & The Jettes, with which she developed her personal vision of indie rock between riot grrrl attitude, grunge textures and krautpop. The debut album Wasteland was released in 2021, accompanied by appearances on BBC 6 Music, NPR, a first US tour and support shows for the Beatsteaks - including two sold-out evenings at Berlin's Wuhlheide, which Lee played heavily pregnant.

In addition to her band work, Laura composed music for the ZDF film Nicht tot zu kriegen (with Iris Berben), performed at Schauspiel Leipzig(Meister und Margarita) and was the protagonist of the Vice documentary 6 Hours with Laura Lee. She is also an active member of the Keychange initiative, which campaigns for more visibility for women and underrepresented groups in the music industry.

On September 5, 2025 Laura Lee & The Jettes will release their second album Tough Love Paradigm(Unsolicited Advice / The Orchard / Sony Music). Produced by Laura herself, mixed by Collin Dupuis (Lana Del Rey, Angel Olsen) and Rhys Edwards (Ulrika Spacek), it shows the band more uncompromising, mature and international than ever. Eleven songs between indie rock, post-punk and emotional clarity - an album that addresses current topics such as self-determination, motherhood and empowerment.
