The Berlin lautten compagney inspires internationally with surprising programs: In Wiesbaden, it's "Baroque goes Pop" - songs by Henry Purcell and the Beatles.
Selected hits by the legendary Beatles meet the music of baroque composer Henry Purcell. The arrangements, tailored to the special instrumentation of the lautten compagney, build an impressive sonic bridge between the 17th and 20th centuries. The saxophone used as a soloist creates a very special color, which mostly reproduces the original vocal melody and is played with wonderful expression by saxophonist Asya Fateyeva. Although no words are sung, the poetic quality of the songs and compositions is always present. And it is clear that The Beatles and Henry Purcell are not only connected by their homeland of England, but also by a pronounced sense for catchy melodies.
