The German premiere of the current dance performance by Dewey Dell

Death is a constant companion. In the animal and plant world, the coexistence of life and death is even more literal than in humans: Death here is often part of a fertilization process, and decaying carcasses are teeming with life.

Dewey Dell breathe new life into "Le Sacre du Printemps". With contemporary visions and an archaic atmosphere, extravagant costumes, images from the history of dance and art as well as behaviors from the animal kingdom, the Italian artists' collective interprets the timeless masterpiece in a way that is both intense and very personal. The production with original music by Igor Stravinsky celebrated its premiere last year at the Triennale Teatro in Milan and was awarded the Danza&Danza prize for the best Italian dance production in 2023.

The group, which was founded in 2006, has already been a guest at the Schaubühne several times. In 2014, we launched our "Scena Italia" series with them, which focuses on productions by artists from the Italian dance and performance scene. Most recently, Dewey Dell 2022 impressed with their highly expressive adaptation of "Hamlet".
