In the organizer's words:

The Paradise Machine is a project by Berlin artist Niklas Goldbach. On the occasion of his exhibition, the lecture performance Into The Paradise Machine will take place in the cinema of the Dortmunder U am Kleinen Freitag. The evening will be musically enhanced by a live score by Schneider TM.

In the 1970s, bungalow complexes for family vacations, the Center Parcs, emerged in the Netherlands, a fusion of Dutch modernist ideals and Catholic moral conservatism. Into The Paradise Machine was filmed in various Center Parcs in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. The reading in the form of a live voice-over juxtaposes the footage with impressions from the diary of Dutch architect Jaap Bakema, who was responsible for the design of the bungalow complexes with his office "Van den Broek and Bakema". The diary, which he wrote in 1943 as a prisoner in the German deportation camp Royallieu-Compiegne in northern France, reveals his survival and coping strategies and provides an insight into his philosophical views on nature, architecture and society.

Niklas Goldbach (*1973 in Witten) works with the media of video and photography. He lives in Berlin.
Schneider TM is a music project by Dirk Dresselhaus that moves between adventurous, electronic pop and experimental, freely improvised music.
