Spanish choreographer Cayetano Soto is no stranger to Leipzig audiences. His work "Uneven" in the "Soto / Scholz / Schröder" production in the 2021/22 season inspired audiences with its precision, technical challenge, virtuoso elements and intimate insight into the soul of a choreographer. This prompted Mario Schröder to invite Cayetano Soto to Leipzig for a second time. Last season, he created a biographical, associative ballet entitled "Tchaikovsky" for the Rijeka Ballet of the Croatian National Theatre, which is now being reworked for the Leipzig Ballet.
Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky influenced and shaped classical ballet through his compositions like few other composers. The myth of his music remains unbroken to this day. Cayetano Soto paints an engaging portrait of a man who could not live his life the way he wanted to. In "Peter I. Tchaikovsky", we look behind the glamorous moments of his biography - at his inner turmoil, courage and genius.
Under the motto "Leipzig dances!", the Leipzig Ballet invites you to experience the art form of ballet in all its facets in summer 2024, to be moved, to move and to enter into a discourse about what ballet was, is and can be.
In addition to exciting guests such as the Akram Khan Company or the ballet of the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor and, of course, works by the Leipzig Ballet, you can experience the dance city of Leipzig in an extensive supporting program.
