Leon Simonis Vessels of Unbecoming

In the organizer's words:

Galerie Stadt Sindelfingen is pleased to present the exhibition Vessels of Unbecoming by Leon Simonis (*2001, Sindelfingen) in the Schaufenstern junge Kunst. Vessels of Unbecoming is dedicated to the ephemeral state of transition. Transformation, deconstruction and metamorphosis are at the heart of the works, which understand materials and plants as fragile bodies of constant change. Everything is multifaceted, nothing is finished, nothing is final.

Legendary, religious and contemporary narratives merge into a new, speculative mythology. Church customs and rituals are deliberately taken up and reinterpreted: Spinal columns are reminiscent of crucifixes, water bowls of baptismal fonts, latex works on glass evoke stained glass windows, textile veils refer to confessionals. The sceneries unfold a spiritual, hybrid landscape between science fiction and fantastic realism.

The exhibition itself becomes a vessel for new ideas. It poses questions about the origins of cultural practices, the blending of ideologies and the finite nature of things. "Entwerden" becomes a symbol of letting go of time-honored traditions and the willingness to allow new perspectives on nature, beliefs and interpretations.

Exhibition opening: Friday, 06.02.2026, 7 pm
