The reading stage "Outbirds", founded in 2023 by author Christian Mahlow and based for three years at Berlin's Expediton Metropolis theater, is now conquering other venues. It will kick off with a joint reading by Sanjina Kashikar and Benjamin Schmidt on the Whitsun weekend, which should delight the audience at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen.
The reading stage "Outbirds" is a cooperation between Laden auf Zeit and Edition Outbird. There will be a book table.
Sanjina Kashikar will be presenting her debut novel "Rattenkönig":
Noel flits aimlessly from one intoxication to the next. Until he meets Aliéna, who smells of wilting flowers and claims to live with talking animals. In the autumnal forest, Noel and Aliéna lose themselves in each other until the boundaries between reality and fiction become blurred. When a murder forces Aliéna to leave her familiar surroundings, love turns into an obsession that puts both their lives in danger.
In his novel "Das geht nicht gut aus", Benjamin Schmidt tells the story of a love and how it branches out into the unknown:
"The person waits without knowing what for. This is actually the age when careers, relationships and everything should be elevated to a new, more meaningful level and decisions for the future should be made. Instead, everything falls apart and nothing changes. Only the people in the club get younger and allow themselves to hope insecurely. The people in the opera, on the other hand, are too familiar with failure. Enough evenings that end with the death of the main character. Afterwards there is applause and everyone settles back into their own tragedy."
