Musician Liza is in trouble with her partner Sally, and the band career she had hoped for just won't happen. Sally struggles to make ends meet with a dull part-time job and has to fend off the advances of her buddy Vin, who is not so secretly in love with her. And queer bearded Jamie longs to finally find a down-to-earth partner. Three days and nights in the lives of four friends who, after the sun goes down, can believe a little more in their dreams with a few drinks, a nose of coke and lots of really good music. Until everything escalates on Liza's 25th birthday and all four of them end up at an illegal rave after a dinner gone wrong ...
For the 10th anniversary of "Break My Fall", director Kanchi Wichmann has elegantly recut her queer cult classic. Shot at original locations and accompanied by a wild indie soundtrack, her film is a unique time capsule and a wonderful homage to the queer-punk counterculture of London's Eastend, which no longer exists. Wichmann's complex portrait of passionate lesbian love is also authentic, for which "Break My Fall" was quite rightly listed as one of the great films with lesbian characters by the British Film Institute in 2021.
