In Muscles of Plastic, Kay Matter explores with poetic precision how bodies, identities and desires change through queer perspectives and pop culture. The debut is a polyphonic text about transformation, pain and self-empowerment - and about writing itself as a place of movement. Kay Matter grew up in Zurich and northern Italy, studied scenic writing at the UdK Berlin and has received several awards for her earlier theater works, including the Hans Gratzer Prize and the Nestroy Prize. Muskeln aus Plastik is Matter's first prose work and can now be heard as his Kampnagel debut at the Waldbühne.
