Lesung: Julia Wadhawan – Sag mir nicht, wer ich bin

In March, kohero and the KörberHaus invite you to a special reading!

Author Julia Wadhawan will be reading from her book Sag mir nicht, wer ich bin (Don't tell me who I am) as part of the kohero Salon.

Julia Wadhawan's father comes from India, but he doesn't want to be Indian. He speaks German at home, loves schnitzel and makes his daughter understand: We are a normal, German family.

But not everyone sees it that way. Amidst the ascriptions of others, Julia develops an aversion to any form of group affiliation - until she travels to India as a journalist and the country forces her to position herself.

Along the lines of skin color, religion and origin, the author reveals global structures that determine our perception of ourselves and others more than nationalities.

Don't tell me who I am is a personal and committed plea for accepting diversity and finding a stance in the process.

Course of the event:

In the kohero Salon, migrant authors will read from their books in a cozy atmosphere. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to talk and discuss with the authors.

• from 20:00: Open exchange with the audience

The event is open to all interested parties and will be held in German.

KörberHaus, Bergedorf (Hamburg)

The KörberHaus is an open meeting place for people of all generations and cultures. It is located right next to the Bergedorf S-Bahn station, which you can reach from Hamburg Central Station in 20 minutes on the S2. All travel options and information on accessibility can be found here.
