Lesung mit Annika Büsing: 'Magisch'

Noch niemand hat sich das Event gemerkt.

In the organizer's words:

We’re thrilled that Annika Büsing will be presenting one of our favorite books of the year and reading from it. “Magisch” is—in a nutshell—about the things that really matter in life: true love and the fight against fascism.

Magisch is back. Of course, she’s in the house behind the Knallerbsenwall; of course, she has a job that isn’t entirely legal; and of course, it’s right in the middle of the sweltering heat of late summer. And everything feels just like in the good old days, when Marie and Magisch first became close friends and then first loves. More than fifteen years have passed, and now they’re sitting down by the dirt road near the horse paddock, in the shade of the bushes, drinking Fanta-Korn as if they’d never been away. But Andi, Marie’s brother, is still there too—he never actually left—and is now a member of the party and still dangerous. When Magisch is threatened, the time has come for Marie to reexamine the issue of the firewall within her own family. (S. FISCHER)

Annika Büsing (*1981) lives with her family in Bochum and teaches at a high school. With *Koller*, she made the shortlists for the Evangelical Book Prize and the *Das zweite Buch* Prize. Both novels have been adapted for the stage. Her third novel, *Wir kommen zurecht*, was published in spring 2025 by Steidl.
