Lesung: "Warum sie uns hassen" mit Autorin Ruby Rebelde

Ruby Rebelde’s book *Why They Hate Us: Hostility Toward Sex Work* was published by Edition Assemblage in May 2025. The first part of the book focuses on hostility toward sex work—the discrimination that sex workers experience simply because they are sex workers. In the following sections, the author examines historical contexts, media coverage of the topic, and personal experiences with hostility toward sex work. The perspective of sex workers has so far been underrepresented in a highly heated debate. Their superdiversity, the multiple forms of discrimination they face, and the role that sex workers and their wage labor have played as a canvas for societal projections for centuries have been just as little explored as their history of persecution throughout the ages. Ruby Rebelde helps to bridge this gap.
