Crisis and law - the (legal) processing of the corona pandemic

The next edition of the interactive discussion series "Let's Talk About Law" will take place on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 19:00, at the Leipzig location of the Stiftung Forum Recht. This time, the topic will be "Law in Crises" using the example of the (legal) handling of the corona pandemic. The guests will beProf. Dr. Andrea Kießling, Professor of Public Law, Social and Health Law and Migration Law at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main and Director of the Institute for European Health Policy and Social Law, and publicist Malte Spitz, co-founder and Secretary General of the Gesellschaft für Freiheitsrechte e.V. as well as political advisor and freelance data protection officer.

In the moderated discussion, the guests will examine, among other things, how the law reacts to national or global crises. And what requirements the law sets for dealing with crises. The panel will also take a look at the much-quoted principle of proportionality during the coronavirus pandemic and clarify how the coronavirus pandemic can be (legally) dealt with. These and other exciting questions will be discussed in a joint discussion. The audience is cordially invited to join in the discussion and contribute their own questions and perspectives.

Admission is free of charge. Registration is not required.

Let's Talk About Law

Since 2025, the Stiftung Forum Recht has regularly hosted the discussion series "Let's Talk About Law" at the foundation's offices in Karlsruhe and Leipzig. Guests are personalities from various areas of law who talk about their everyday work and present their views on a current legal topic: from employment law and tenancy law to freedom of expression. The talks are recorded and subsequently published as a live-on-tape podcast.
