Levan & Irakli Svanishvili, Simon Says: Art Works
In the organizer's words:
Levan & Irakli Svanishvili develop their work at the intersection of painting, relief, and object art. The starting point for their collaborative practice is Georgian fresco painting, whose formal and spatial qualities continue to influence their work to this day. Over the years, the brothers have developed a distinctive artistic form in which wood, plaster, resin, oil paints, and watercolors merge to create sculptural picture surfaces.
Central to their work is an exploration of the “in-between”—those undefined areas where form, material, and space enter into an open relationship. Working in close collaboration, they create works that evolve through continuous changes in the creative process. Forms emerge, condense, or dissolve again, generating a distinct spatial presence.
Levan & Irakli Svanishvili (born in Tbilisi, Georgia) live and work between Karlsruhe and Düsseldorf. Both studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, Levan under Prof. Koenraad Dedobbeleer and Irakli under Prof. Thomas Scheibitz.
