Leyla Yenirce. Werdegang
In the organizer's words:
Leyla Yenirce was born in Qubînê in 1992 and grew up in Oldenburg as the child of Ezidi refugees. She studied cultural anthropology and fine arts in Hamburg and Bryn Mawr (USA). Since then, she has been working on the figuration of feminist resistance across different media.
Today, the visual artist lives and works in Berlin. With her solo exhibition at the Landesmuseum Oldenburg, Leyla Yenirce is now returning to her former hometown, which shaped her perception and sensitized her to cultural issues at an early age. For the exhibition, she draws on impressions from her career - spaces and paths, voices and sounds, images and perspectives - and expresses them anew in painting, video and installation.
