Baroque splendor and festive joy characterize this Christmas concert: French mezzo-soprano Adèle Charvet returns to Potsdam with Antonio Vivaldi’s heartfelt “Nisi Dominus” and the radiant “Domine Deus” from his Gloria. Leopold Mozart’s cheerful “Children’s Symphony,” a solemn orchestral suite by Johann Sebastian Bach, the elegant melodies of Jean-Philippe Rameau, and Frank Bridge’s atmospheric “Christmas Dance” combine contemplation, splendor, and the lively joy of Christmas.
