Lieder vom Rhein

The program offers a compilation of romantic compositions for voice and piano. Lyrical references to Cologne Cathedral are well-known in 'Dichterliebe' and in the Eichendorff Liederkreis op. 39 by Robert Schumann, and his song 'sonntags am Rhein' is also popular. But 'Lieder vom Rhein' is also the title of a collection by Schubert's contemporary Franz Lachner and a song cycle by Peter Cornelius. Versions by the Romantics Clara Schumann, Johanna Kinkel and Ingeborg von Bronsart can be heard.
