Liis Vares und Taavet Jansen: Still Moving

In the organizer's words:

Still Moving invites you into a space where instinctive physicality meets linguistic thinking through the use of Mixed Reality (MR). The project is part of the larger Held in Human series and explores the meaning of presence and 'being in the body' in a contemporary world where technology significantly augments and mediates the human experience.
Equipped with a see-through VR headset that enables both physical and digital navigation, the performer - which can also be the audience - enters a moving mind space. We invite up to three spectators at a time to make their bodies available for the performative installation. Each participant brings their own unique physicality, imagination and interpretation, contributing to an evolving choreographic language and an inclusive dramaturgy.

Liis Vares is a choreographer from Tallinn who works in the digital space and moves between performing and visual arts. She is a certified DanceAbility lecturer and guest lecturer at Viljandi Culture Academy, University of Tartu, where she specializes in improvisation and inclusive studies in dance and performance art. Liis has been nominated several times and awarded the Estonian Cultural Endowment Annual Prize for her choreographic innovations and exploration of politically and socially charged issues in her work.

Taavet Jansen is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose work combines movement, digital technologies and interactive performance. His practice focuses on dissolving the boundaries between human presence and digital environments. Jansen has presented his performances and installations in various environments, including theaters, galleries and virtual spaces. These presentations have engaged diverse audiences through the use of interactive and participatory frameworks.

As part of MODINA, the symposium Dancing in the Digital Age: Bodies, Codes, and Affective Futures will take place on January 24 with keynote speeches, panel discussions and a lecture performance.
