Her music transcends time and borders. The singer Liraz, daughter of Persian-Jewish parents who emigrated to Israel before the outbreak of the Islamic revolution, pays homage to the great Iranian pop divas of the 1970s on her third album "Roya". However, their songs, sung in Farsi, are not only a musically captivating combination of traditional melodies and rhythms with electronic sounds, but also an expression of unbridled freedom. For the recordings, musicians from Iran traveled undercover to Istanbul to gather in secret with the Israeli superstar and her band in a recording studio. What Liraz and her comrades-in-arms produced in those days, crackling with creativity, not only resurrects an extremely vibrant musical era. Not least in Iran, the songs resound as a soundtrack for the fight against oppression and for women's rights, whose protests Liraz lends a powerful voice.
