She started with the capital of Lower Silesia/Dolny Śląsk: Roswitha Schieb's "Literary Travel Guide to Wrocław" delights connoisseurs and newcomers alike. Now she has summarized her years of exploring the whole of Lower Silesia in five tours and spreads out a lush literary landscape before the reader:

In the chapter "In the Heart of Lower Silesia", she travels around Mount Zobten/Ślęża and the city of Breslau/Wrocław in search of the region's origins. In "War and Peace", she juxtaposes scenes of religious and national struggles with evidence of reconciliation and understanding. The section "Silesian Mysticism" tracks down swarming spirits and eccentrics from Görlitz via the Bober-Katzbach and Jizera Mountains to Agnetendorf/Jagniątków. The Giant Mountains, Hirschberg Valley and, last but not least, Rübezahl are the focus of the "Mountain Romanticism" chapter. Finally, the chapter "Torn apart by social contradictions and unity in the certainty of God in the Waldenburg and Glatzer highlands" presents the "Tuppeltes, Gedoppeltes".

The numerous voices of literary figures include those of Nobel Prize winners Gerhart Hauptmann and Olga Tokarczuk as well as Andreas Gryphius, Daisy von Pless, Ruth Hoffmann, Arnold Zweig, Joanna Bator and Filip Springer.

About the author:
Roswitha Schieb studied German and art history in Cologne and Berlin. In her book "Journey to Silesia and Galicia. Eine Archäologie des Gefühls" (Berlin Verlag, 2000), she explores the places and regions of her parents, who were expelled from Silesia, as well as the former eastern Polish Galicia, now Ukraine - a region from which numerous Poles were expelled after 1945 and who settled in Silesia, among other places. Other publications from the publishing house of the German Cultural Forum include "Jeder zweite Berliner. Schlesische Spuren an der Spree and Literarischer Reiseführer Böhmisches Bäderdreieck". In 2021 she received the Silesia Culture Prize of the State of Lower Saxony.
