The experts are delighted: the world's most prestigious literary prize went to 71-year-old Hungarian novelist László Krasznahorkai in December 2025. The Stockholm jury praised "his urgent and visionary work, which affirms the power of art in the midst of apocalyptic horrors". Many of his books have been published in German and are now being reissued.

Since 1995, literary scholar Michael Serrer has been presenting lectures on the respective Nobel Prize winner. He will also introduce the audience to László Krasznahorkai. Michael Serrer was head of the NRW Literature Office for 26 years. He has taught at several universities, published in the FAZ and ZEIT and edited more than 50 books.

The event is also open to non-members of the Volksbühne.
